Find out how to buzz around the room and connect with your guests all night long. Here are 5 useful tips how you can organize the party and mingle with your guests at the same time.

Choose a menu that works for you not against you

If you've chosen not to shell out money for a caterer this year and will be preparing (or at least serving) your own food, be sure to choose items that won’t keep you away from your guests. Select items that can be prepared in advance.

That way, it won't take long to tray and replenish them. Step in the kitchen and step right back out. You might also consider serving cold foods or foods that can sit at room temperature. Holiday parties are great occasions for dessert bars as well.

Close the open bar

Keeping bar options to a minimum helps keep the party simple, free of long bar lines, and the worry of stocking every variety of alcohol. Offer a red, white wine, or a specialty cocktail (preferably vodka or champagne-based) instead of an elaborate open bar. And don't forget your choice of non-alcoholic beverages.

Whose party is it anyway?

No two hosts are alike. Host a memorable experience with a touch of you. If everyone knows brunch is your favorite activity, consider hosting a holiday brunch. If you're a sports buff, I should see a couple of NFL nutcrackers (no pun intended) throughout your pad.

Your party or event should speak of you and your guests. So, make it your own. Your guests will appreciate the experience.

Seasons of love

Your social gathering is the perfect opportunity to educate and inform your friends and loved ones about any one of your favorite social causes. Try collecting coats or canned goods. Create a gift box and attach an oversized tag with information on how guests can make monetary donations to your favorite charity.

These are easy ways to add something special to your party and bring comfort and joy to others.

Stress now not later

Anxiety is a normal part of hosting any holiday party. However, good planning is the key to less stress. Plan and prepare far in advance so that your work is done by the time the doorbell rings. Avoid last minute shopping and clean your house/apartment several days prior. Several people will call and ask if they can bring anything. Suggest ice. Their ice plus your own will ensure ample supply and less worry of a store run later.

Stock your bathroom with candles, matches and clean hand towels. Not everyone will be able to make it to your party, but those who do will have a good time. Plan, prepare and pump the music at your best holiday party ever!

Now you are free to buzz around the room and connect with your guests all night long.
