Following the death of his dog Beemo in May, Gus Kenworthy has adopted a new best friend and shared a picture of her on Instagram.
Kenworthy named her Birdie after “one of Beemo’s favorite things in the world,” birds. Kenworthy rescued five-month-old Birdie from a dog meat farm in South Korea after contacting Humane Society International, and seeing she was brought over to the United States. Kenworthy’s new pup is a Jindo and Labrador Retriever mix.
“Nothing in the world could ever replace Beemo or the love that we felt and still feel for her but Birdie has already stolen a new place in our hearts and we're excited to be dog dads again,” Kenworthy said in his caption.
Kenworthy ran an Instagram account for Beemo and will now continue posting pictures of Birdie to raise awareness for animal rescue. He ended the post with two hashtags: #DogsAreFriendsNotFood and #AdoptDontShop.
