What began as a staple of the working class has now weaved its way into our daily lives, and then some. No longer for the daytime only, denim is the perfect choice for wherever you go. Here are three fresh ways to add in denim in unexpected ways.

Suit

When it’s done right denim can also be a great addition to your office attire. Try a subtle nod to the fabric with a denim tie or light denim dress shirt.

It's official. Sweats are not just for the gym anymore. So spice the comfy pants up with a great outerwear accessory like a jean jacket. Remember that a jean jacket is an ideal layering piece under or over another jacket or sweater.

Denim on Denim

The ol’ “Canadian tuxedo” has been the butt of many jokes, but it’s time to let it shine. The key is blending different shades. Try mixing lights with darks or worn-in pants with a crisper jacket.

Denim is a sturdy cotton warp - faced twill textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces the familiar diagonal ribbing of the denim that distinguishes it from cotton duck.

It is a characteristic of most indigo denim that only the warp threads are dyed, whereas the weft threads remain plain white. As a result of the warp - faced twill weaving, one side of the textile then shows the blue warp threads and the other side shows the white weft threads.

This is why blue jeans are white on the inside. The indigo dyeing process, in which the core of the warp threads remains white, creates denim's fading characteristics, which are unique compared to every other textile.
