Gay Ibiza is one of the top four gay destinations in Europe, alongside Gran Canaria, Mykonos and Sitges.

Many of Ibiza’s gay-friendly bars can be found in and around Ibiza Town, as well as Dalt Vila (the Old Town), Virgen (the harbour area) and Figueretas. This year, the only gay club on the island, Lola’s, is making a welcome return to Ibiza Town. This club is small in size, but big in reputation, thanks to its late club licence. It opens at 1am, and closes at 6:30am from mid-May until October.

Other gay-friendly nights include Matinee at Amnesia, which takes place every Saturday, and features dancing, trapeze artists, banging house music and even, if you’re lucky fetish theme parties, which are said to be legendary. Another night that is well worth mentioning is La Troya, which is every Wednesday night at Space, and is home to drag queens, theatrical productions and outrageous happenings.

There are also several gay-friendly beaches on the island, in fact, officially, every beach on Ibiza is gay-friendly, although there is only one “official” gay beach, which is called Es Cavellet, and is also one of the most famous nudist beaches on the island. Elsewhere, the beach at Figueretas is popular with the gay community, and is also home to the bar/cafe Chaos, which has a great reputation as being gay friendly.

Ibiza’s gay scene is wild and colourful, and if you want to see it at its best, then aim to travel to the island during the summer (May to October) as this is when there are the most events, parties and other happenings that will keep you occupied. Remember, the night life in Ibiza tends to start much later than you might expect, so it’s normal to see clubs and bars start to get busy after 1am. Start your trip with drinks at the main entrance of Dalt Villa, as this is where you can buy wristbands for parties, get the gossip and work out where you want to go with all your new friends.
