More details of George Michael’s burial have been shared. His burial plot, in Highgate Cemetry, north London, is next to his late mother.

Michael’s beloved mother, Lesley, died exactly 20 years ago in 1997. The star had always intended to be buried next to her, buying the burial plot ready for when the occasion came around. A source told the Mirror: “Lesley was George’s world so it is fitting that they should now be together.” They added: “George would always make a big deal out of Mother’s Day. “He loved her so much and he would spend a lot of time talking to her there. “The cemetery has a very special place in his heart.”

The plot was cleared of flowers and leaves over the weekend ready for his burial next to his mum. 24-hour security now surrounds the plot in a bid to protect it from vandals or over zealous fans. According to the Daily Star, the cemetery has “ramped up security” as George’s family “fear ghouls could ruin the funeral”. It’s believed the star’s burial is this week, and may well have already happened. Supermodel and neighbour Kate Moss is reported as revealing the news of his funeral while boarding a flight to New Dheli.

She had to explain to staff that she couldn’t board the flight – despite herself, her daughter and a friend having all their luggage in the plane, which was about to take off. Staff obliged and it’s reported the plane took off eight minutes late, though BA claim it took off on time. Now his £105m fortune is now set to be split up between loved ones and charities. His hairdresser sister, Melanie Panayiotou, is set to inherit his £10m mansion in north London. The 55-year-old has already been seen living in the house.

Meanwhile the singer’s other older sister, Yioda Panayiotou, 57, is also reported to be receiving a large chunk of his estimated £105million fortune. A number of charities and causes that were close to the legendary performer’s heart are expected to be recognised in the will, too. He spent three months unburied after investigations into his cause of death continued. According to a coroner, the singer’s death was caused by dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.
